Elevato.app ("the App") is developed and operated by Tuomas Valtonen ("we", "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data in relation to your use of the App.

The App locally stores the following information on your device:
This data remains exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to external servers unless you explicitly query elevation data from our backend servers.
You have the option to allow or deny location permissions. Enabling location services enhances your experience by displaying your current position on the map and allowing quick access to your elevation information. If location services are disabled, the App remains usable, but with limited functionality.
When querying elevation data for a location on the map, geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) are transmitted to our backend servers hosted on AWS in the EU. The current location coordinates are only transmitted if explicitly selected by you within the App.
No other personal or device-specific information is sent alongside these queries.
Our servers log standard technical information such as your IP address. This logging is done solely for operational purposes such as troubleshooting and rate limiting. IP addresses are not associated or linked to your queries, and log data does not enable personal identification of users. These logs are managed under GDPR-compliant AWS ECS/CloudWatch services. Users may request the removal of their IP address from these logs by contacting us directly.
IP addresses stored for rate limiting purposes are kept temporarily in server memory and can be deleted upon request.
No other personal data is retained by our servers.
Our website (Elevato.app) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics service. Plausible collects anonymous usage data such as page views, device type, browser type, and referral source. No personally identifiable information or cookies are stored by Plausible Analytics.
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Given our minimal data handling approach, the only identifiable data we hold (IP addresses in logs) can be requested for removal at any time via email.
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is secured using HTTPS encryption. We apply standard industry practices for securing server-side data.
You can withdraw consent regarding location permissions at any time through your device settings. You can request deletion of any logged IP data by contacting us at help@elevato.app.
The App does not specifically target minors, and no explicit age restrictions apply.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be indicated within the App’s settings tab. We encourage you to periodically review this policy to stay informed about how we protect your data.
